One senior officer that leaped to the help of a colleague that was assaulted by a blade-wielder received the King's Commendation for Bravery.

Sgt Tim Ansell grappled with twenty-seven-year-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he placed a knife to the throat of his colleague Sgt Marc Foster.

Brown launched his attack as the officers and their third officer, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a driver following a vehicle incident in that location in July 2023.

Brown attacked with blade the two Sergeant Ansell and Sergeant Foster before PC Wolstencroft stopped him with a stun gun.

"Policeman stabbed," the officer stated over his radio.

Bodyworn and vehicle camera footage released by the police department depicted Brown, wearing in dark clothing with a head covered, run up to Sgt Foster from behind with a weapon extended.

He ran into the policeman who stumbled and fell to the pavement, before Sgt Ansell intervened and attempted to subdue him to the floor even though being multiple times hit with the weapon.

Police Constable Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and awaited a open target, bringing the fight to an end.

Sergeant Ansell stated audibly: "Please provide assistance on my throat here, I'm bleeding in the neck."

Sergeant Ansell received multiple open wounds to his throat and more wounds to his arms and torso, while Sgt Foster experienced slash wounds.

Officials stated Sgt Foster used his bare hands to stop his colleague's bleeding prior to paramedics arrived.

The latest recognition arrives subsequent to the law enforcement team received internal Bravery Awards in late 2023 and the police federation award from the area officer association in early 2024.

They additionally received a Area Courage Honor in summer 2024.

"The actions of each policeman ultimately rescued one another and ensured no civilians suffered any injuries."

Brown was sentenced to an secure medical confinement in early 2024, according to the department.
