One two-month cruise through the Land Down Under has been cancelled following the fatal incident of an older lady who was left behind by the cruise liner on a distant coastal location.

The elderly woman had been hiking on the tropical location with fellow passengers from the vessel, but parted ways from the party for a rest. The ship departed without her and went back later that day after the crew realised the passenger was unaccounted for.

An extensive rescue mission discovered her remains the subsequent day.

Investigative bodies are investigating the tragedy, alongside police and the state coroner.

Chief Executive of the voyage organizer said that guests and personnel on the ship were notified that the remainder of the voyage had been called off due to the "sad loss and previous mechanical issues".

In a statement, he further stated that passengers would be provided a complete reimbursement, and said the company was working "to arrange the return journeys of the passengers via private aircraft".

Officials also released an revised statement, and said they had "provided a order to the Master" banning any further travelers from boarding the vessel.

The spokesperson said that they would visit the liner in the Australian city upon its coming back.

Chronology of Incidents

The ship first departed the coastal city on 24 October, and was just two days into the expedition at the point of the 80-year-old's demise. The tropical location was the first stop on the itinerary.

Travelers on the vessel - who usually pay large sums of dollars to participate in the voyage - were ferried there for a day trip with the choice of walking or underwater exploration.

Relatives Statement

The offspring of the elderly passenger said that her relatives was "surprised and distressed that the ship left Lizard Island after an organised excursion without my mum".

Through her comments, she portrayed her mother as an "energetic 80-year-old" who was a member of a bushwalking organization.

"Based on limited information we have been informed, it seems that there was a breakdown of attention and ordinary reasoning," she stated.

She added that she wished the inquiry would be able to determine what "the organization should have done that might have protected Her being".

"According to reports from the investigators that it was a exceptionally warm day, and she fell ill on the mountain ascent," she stated.

"Officials suggested her to head down, alone. Then the boat departed, seemingly without conducting a passenger count.

"At some stage in that chain of events, or shortly after, mum passed away, without company."

Operator Position

In a statement, the Head confirmed that the organization was "collaborating extensively with investigators to assist their investigation".

He mentioned that the company was "extremely apologetic that this has transpired" and had provided its full support to the loved ones.

Shipping Sector Procedures

The vessel accommodates up to a hundred twenty passengers with 46 personnel, according to official information. It was specifically designed to reach isolated areas of the Australian coast and is outfitted with "auxiliary vessels" - small boats used to ferry passengers on day excursions.

Events like this are rare, and cruise ships have systems to record which individuals are getting on or getting off, according to travel authorities.

"Sneaking ashore or [back] aboard simply isn't an option," a specialist stated.

Vessel operators consider these procedures with great importance and have "advanced technology in place to avoid such events from occurring," the specialist further stated.
