Exploring a Unusual Steam Game Trial: Controlling a Turdy Character in a Mission to Arrive at the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and gamers have encountered numerous entertaining indie games. Yet, one stands out for its unconventional concept. Named Unko Technica, this retro-inspired jumping adventure lets you play a protagonist that is literally a dung striving to travel to a restroom. For those curious, "Unko" means "poop."

Player controls is easy to grasp: press a jump control. Throughout numerous challenges, battle boss fights and visit a market to purchase outfits for your poop character.

Execute your jumps with caution, since one mistake means restarting the level. Bounce using floating orbs to launch yourself higher, traverse fragile surfaces, and activate triggers to unlock secret routes. Gather currency for buying tougher game content where things ramps up.

Visually, the game features eye-catching environments and a killer music score. The retro art featuring morphing geometric shapes may remind gamers of beloved games like Earthbound.

Although tough to think of similar titles where you play as a coiled turd, video games have long featured toilet humor. For example, in Death Stranding, you can craft explosives from character excrement. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ manure as soil enrichment. And of course, such content shows up a lot in the South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Regardless of its goofy concept, Unko Technica has already received significant awards, such as winning at a major publisher's indie contest in 2023. A playable preview is available currently on Steam, with the full game scheduled to debut on computers this November.
