One-time NFL Star Antonio Brown Enters Not Guilty Plea in Murder Attempt Case

One-time NFL player Antonio Brown is returning to Miami to confront an attempted murder allegation stemming from a shooting that happened in May, with his counsel submitting a not guilty plea on his behalf.

Jail logs in Essex, New Jersey, indicate that Brown was released on Tuesday early for his relocation to Florida. Brown, one of the most popular players in the NFL, had waived extradition to Florida from New Jersey, in which he was detained after being apprehended in the city of Dubai.

Brown’s lawyer, Mark Eiglarsh, stated in an communication that he has already submitted a written innocent declaration to the murder attempt accusation. Brown could be in a Miami courtroom as soon as Wednesday early for a release session, Eiglarsh added.

According to his detention warrant, Brown is charged of seizing a firearm from a security guard after a public figure match bout in May and discharging two rounds at a man he had confronted with before. The reported individual, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, told investigators that one of the bullets grazed his nape.

Eiglarsh stated that Brown was merely safeguarding himself from Nantambu.

“The steps he was obliged to take were solely in self-protection against the alleged individual’s violent actions. Brown was attacked that evening and acted within his lawful right to protect himself,” Eiglarsh said.

Brown was not promptly apprehended because originally police did not identify Nantambu as a victim. It only afterward in May that Nantambu provided a complete statement about the event to police and named Brown as the perpetrator, the report says.

According to his online posts, Brown had been staying in the city of Dubai for multiple months. In a message after the confrontation, Brown stated he was protecting himself because he was “assaulted by several people who attempted to steal my possessions and inflict personal injury to me.”

A second-degree attempted murder charge in the state of Florida imposes a highest 15-year prison term and up to a $10,000 fee in the instance of a guilty verdict.

Brown has encountered several judicial problems over the time. He earlier had been charged of physical attack of a truck employee, several domestic violence charges, failure to pay parental support and other events.

During a recent match with the Buccaneers against the opponents, Brown took off his jersey, protective gear and gloves and exited the arena, resulting in his release by the franchise and practically ending his football journey.

Brown, who had twelve years in the NFL, was an top-tier player who spent most of his tenure with Pittsburgh. Throughout his time, Brown had over 900 catches for over 12,291 distance, the twenty-eighth highest of record. He was a 7-time Pro Bowl selection.
