It's a challenge for Australia to set fresh records.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

This is the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, along with another six T20 titles, and once went over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, the ones sought by the record chasers, are all that remain for a side that has achieved everything.

The fact it required until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, regaining their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the bowling attack that have worn canary yellow over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their hitters to hold a record if not provided the chance.

In the end, the consequence of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy being given a chance to produce her newest gem.

Originally famous as the young family member of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 championship victory happened three months after her debut and seven international trophies have come from 10 tries across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India briefly halted the run of success.

That loss "motivated us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

Whether this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Many contend the case for the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was much more difficult to predict.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this knock came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in training, it's been a challenging time because it appeared I've had no rhythm whatsoever," commented Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your competitive nature activate and you completely engage with the competition."

Healy's fighting spirit has consistently been her great strength - and an invaluable trait in taking over from legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

A single was taken off Gaud's first delivery and from there the batsman was on her way.

"The possibility to go out there and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, somewhat inspired me," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 as she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

By the time she was out her side required another 66 at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is uncharted waters so I'm pleased we have the belief to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, should it happen, we are confident we can achieve it."

These statements will be the last rival teams at this World Cup want to hear.

In recent days a feeling they will win from any position has only strengthened - this success following success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they were eliminated from the prior year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to damaged tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the first time at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she subsequently stated she wished she had played with the discomfort.

However although she afterwards confessed those physical issues have pushed back thoughts of retirement, this championship is expected to be her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as skipper.

Success in India would lead her to the peak of her ultimate challenge.
